Domestic Disturbance
Starring: John Travolta, Vince Vaughn, Teri Polo, Steve Buscemi, Matthew O'Leary
Directed By: Harold Becker

John Travolta needs a good role that he can really sink his teeth into. I say his last decent role was in 1997's Face/Off. Other than the most obvious Battlefield Earth there has been, The General's Daughter, Lucky Numbers and Swordfish. Although the latter was enjoyable, it wasn't great, it just had some really cool action sequences. But anyway, along comes Domestic Disturbance a well enough movie that suffers from predictability and a horrible trailer. The trailer practically tells you what's going to happen. But Travolta plays the role very well, with a lot of heart. You have the sense that he truly feels for his "son" and would do anything for him. In terms of on-screen villains, Vaughn is great as the evil stepfather with a shady past. Vaughn has treaded this area before in the much maligned remake of Psycho, but here gets to play his true bad guy role up to par. Buscemi is barely on the screen enough for you to get a feel of his character, but as usual, plays slimy very well. Meet The Parents Teri Polo doesn't really get a chance to act to much in this, she just plays the worried mom. It's not a bad movie, don't get me wrong, I really did have an entertaining experience, but you know how movies like this are going to end, right? B-
