Jeepers Creepers
Starring: Justin Long, Gina Philips, Jonathan Breck
Directed By: Victor Salva

Scream ruined everything. It made it cool for the stalked teenager to quote some stupid pop culture remark while being hunted down by a serial killer. And since that movie there have really been no good horror movies. I mean let's face it, every horror that has been released has been a "slasher" movie. There is a difference between "horror" and "slasher" movies too. You think slasher: Halloween, Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer. Horror is: Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday The 13th. So let's get this out of the way, Jeepers Creepers is a horror movie. It has a full blown monster, who cannot be stopped, and two scared teenagers, who do not utter one stupid pop culture reference. And I say "THANK GOD!" I mean Jeepers isn't great, but it certainly ain't bad either. It's a whole helluva lot better than most of the crap that has been released this summer. It's a very moody piece, with an impressive atmosphere, that has you sitting on the edge of your seat. It's not scary because it's gory, it's scary because the "feel" of the movie. It's dark and creepy all the time. The villain, The Creeper, as he is being billed is, pretty much creepy. My favorite part of the movie is when Darius gets stuck down in the cellar of The Creeper, it is definitely one of the most tense scenes I've seen in a long time. It's great to finally see a "horror" movie again. B
