Sleepy Hollow
Starring: Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci, Casper Van Dien, Michael Gough, Christopher Walken
Directed by: Tim Burton

In this tale of beheadings, one person rises above the rest as the star of the entire cast. That being someone without a head. You got it, the Headless Horseman. Every single scene that he is in electrifies the screen. Don't get me wrong but, let's face it you're not going to see Sleepy Hollow for it's acting. You wanna see some heads get cut off. Right? Well like the teaser says, "Heads will roll". It's learned that the Headless Horseman turns out to be a Hessian mercenary (Walken), with a proclivity towards chopping the colonists heads off during the Revolutionary War. The Hessian is caught and they behead him, burying his head with his body. He is awakened by someone or something who takes his head, leaving his body under the complete control of the person who has his head. Got it? Now in comes Ichabod Crane, (Depp) a New York City constable, called to find and capture the murderer, who he believes is just a person. We, as the audience get to watch him fumble around for the truth, which he learns, very quickly, transforming him at that moment to a coward we know from the Disney version. Tim Burton does an amazing job with the scenery, which suprisingly was shot on a soundstage in London. He uses the locale and scenery to great extent, giving a sense of nervousness and dreariness. The movie has it's high points (every Horseman scene) and it's low points (every Ricci scene, who plays the daughter of a rich townsperson, in love with Crane). It's worth seeing for the scenery and of course the Horseman. B
