The Story Of Us
Starring: Bruce Willis, Michelle Pfeifer, Rob Reiner, Paul Reiser, Rita Wilson
Directed By: Rob Reiner
Okay, before I even start this review I must admit, I'm not normally into how shall we call them "chick flicks", but there are some that are really good, like City of Angels and Phenomenon. They normally follow a strict platform, with the two stars reuniting at the end. But The Story of Us, is well , let me put it this way, amazing. I loved it. Bruce Willis and Michele Pfeiffer star as a married couple who have grown apart after fifteen years and are now only staying together because of their children. The movie displays their histoy in flashbacks incited by their discussing it, and through the memories they have. Bruce Willis is blistering as the husband, Ben Jordan. Willis, even with all the flack he has taken, can act: he displays here the presence he has on screen. Michelle Pfeiffer, maybe, it's just I disliked her character, she plays a nagging wife, who picks anything to fight. But the chemistry the two have onscreen is amazing, and the story is just so beautifully directed. Reiner directs the two, with gusto, he shows the crumbling of emotions, in one paritcular scene where Ben just breaks down outside a restaurant that captured the entire sense of the movie. It is an amazing analysis of relationships, and everything that could possibly go wrong in them. A+
